Fixtures this week
A busy week of football fixtures for all year groups with matches against North Bridge and Sussex House.
MONDAY 8TH NOVEMBER – U11s vs. NORTH BRIDGE HOUSE
Starting with the A team, who went into the match full of confidence after their performance in the Lyndhurst inter-school tournament, struggled to click and found themselves a couple of goals down early on. Unfortunately they went on to lose 5-1, with Felix grabbing our goal. The B team showed tremendous character in their game. After taking the lead through Socrates, North Bridge House came back with two goals. The boys continued to battle and got rewarded for their efforts, with Socrates once again getting on the scoresheet and earning his team a 2-2 draw. Finally our C team battled well in a closely-fought encounter. This game always looked as if it was going to be settled by a single goal and unfortunately it was North Bridge who came away with a 1-0 victory. Special mentions go to Dexter for a solid debut for the A team, Chia for a dominant performance in the midfield for the Bs and Alex for a solid piece of defending for the Cs.
WEDNESDAY 10TH NOVEMBER – U13s vs. SUSSEX HOUSE
Our seniors faced Sussex House for the very first time in Lyndhurst history at this level. The 1st team, playing in a 9 aside fixture, were given a strong test. The match was close in the early stages with both sides wanting to move the ball quickly and catch the opposition out on the counter attack. With the score level at half time you could see that a single goal in the match would prove decisive. Half way through the second half Sussex House caught us out and broke at speed, finishing off a counter-attacking move. As we pushed for a late equalizer and throwing more men forward Sussex House scored with the last kick of the game, going on to win 2-0. Special mentions go to Rupert for a commanding display at the back and Kevin for a powerful performance in midfield. The Bs were involved in a 7 aside fixture which proved to be a very close match with an exciting end result. After Lyndhurst fell behind 1-0 early in the second half the boys started throwing more players forward and their efforts were rewarded. 2 goals in 2 minutes from Jan saw us claim victory, taking the game 2-1. Special mentions go to Israel for an industrious performance in midfield, Jan for his clinical finishing and Christopher for his crucial impact from the bench.
THURSDAY 11TH NOVEMBER – U9s vs. SUSSEX HOUSE
Our Year 3 & 4s were involved in a fixture against Sussex House taking part in 5 aside games. All teams played 2 matches, giving all boys the opportunity to switch around positions. The As put in 2 strong performances, winning 3-2 and then 3-0, with goals coming from Freddie (4), Adam and Rocco. The Bs grabbed a well-earned 2-1 victory in the first game, then came undone in the second game, losing 4-1. Goals for the B team came through Valentino (2) and Adam. Finally our Cs fought hard to earn a 2-2 draw and then were able to hold out for 1-0 victory in the second match, with goals coming from Josh, Oliver and an own goal. Special mentions in the A team go to Freddie for clinical finishing and Rocco for powerful play, in the B team Asher for his tenacity, Sandy for his shot-stopping and Aydin for his composure on the ball and in the C team Harley for his “maximum effort” approach and Alex for his team play.
